Job Role and Summary

A Children’s Librarian is responsible for overseeing the operations of the children’s library. You will be responsible for providing reading materials for children, ensuring order in the library and cataloging. You are also required to arrange library programs for children. Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in the library is also part of your responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the children’s library operations.
  • Provides reading materials for children and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in the library
  • Arranges library programs for children to promote a fun reading and learning experience.
  • Prepares the budget for acquisition of new reading materials.
  • Creates library policies for everyone to observe.
  • Catalogs, updates the library cards, answers customer inquiries, and other related library works.
  • Establishes rapport with parents and teachers.
  • Responds to emergencies with a calm demeanor.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Computer skills (proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).
  • Can multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Library student, recent graduate or retired person.
  • Must be comfortable in a temple library
  • Must possess absolute patience and courtesy to handle children of different ages.
  • Hours: Wednesday 3 pm to 6 pm and Sunday 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at $20 an hour
