MS LIS

Mission Statement

Consistent with St. John’s University’s Vincentian mission, the program actively cultivates a diverse and inclusive learning environment. By providing a forward-thinking education, we aim to equip graduates with ethical leadership skills, empowering them with the ability to navigate and solve the complexities of information ecosystems while upholding social justice in the information professions.

Program Requirements

Students must meet the following requirements in order to graduate: 

  • Completion of 36 credits with a minimum of a “B” (3.0) average consisting of five core courses, one Social Justice Requirement course, and six elective courses. Click here for course descriptions. Up to six credits may be taken outside the division with the permission of the Director.
    • 15 credits – Core (LIS 203, LIS 204, LIS 205, LIS239, LIS 240)
    • 3 credits – Social Justice Requirement (LIS 222, LIS 275, LIS 283, LIS 322)
    • 15 credits – Electives
  • Submission of a successful E-Portfolio.
  • Continuous enrollment and completion of all requirements within a period not to exceed five years.
