Historically, DLIS hosted an annual Symposium showcasing student research within a thematic context, with at least one guest speaker from the field of Library and Information Science.
Since 2015, DLIS has begun hosting two academic lectures on the themes of Social Justice in Librarianship (Br. Emmet Corry Lecture in the Fall) and Community Engagement in Librarianship (William A. Gillard Lecture in the Spring), while the DLIS Student Association (DLISSA) hosts a student research symposium in the Spring. All of these events are free and open to the public.
