Children’s Services Intern
The Seaford Public Library seeks a personable and reliable intern for the Children’s Department who will play an important role in providing and maintaining services offered to children. The ideal candidate will be organized, hard-working, and ambitious. This position is available to start May or June 2023.
The Library Intern will work 20 hours per week.
Must be currently enrolled in an ALA accredited library science graduate program.
The primary duties of the Library Intern will include, but are not limited to:
• Assist patrons with check-in/check-out of materials, answering the phone, readers advisory and shelving of books as needed.
• Organize and shelve materials and conduct shelf reading procedures.
• Assist in weeding the collection, reorganizing, and withdrawing library materials.
• Help to prepare wall displays and shelf displays, and maintain an attractive, orderly library.
• Assist in storytimes, arts and crafts programs, summer reading club and library school visits.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are helpful.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Perform other duties as required.
