The Foundation is offering an internship to assist with the proofing of its archive’s finding aid—a process that involves working directly with archival materials in tandem with their digital descriptions. The intern will work under the direction of a Foundation archivist. This is an opportunity to learn about the archival organization of the records of an artist’s life and practice, and to gain experience working with a dynamic finding aid program. The internship will begin in June 2021 and extend through August 2021, with the possibility to continue through the following semester. The intern must be available to work two or three days per week, with the schedule to be determined at the start of the program. This is a paid internship.
Eligibility: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recent graduates from an MLIS degree program, with a concentration in archives.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of information science and archival principles and practices, while able to demonstrate sound research, writing, proofreading and communication skills. The intern must be a detail-oriented, highly organized and discreet individual who is both a team player and self-motivated. Proficiency in ArchivesSpace and Microsoft Office programs is required. Knowledge of twentieth-century American art, specifically Abstract Expressionism, is preferred but not required.
This internship will be performed onsite. To ensure a safe work environment, all interns and staff are required to follow the Foundation’s COVID-19 Workplace Safety Plan which is based on New York State’s requirements and guidelines for employers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further details will be provided.
Interested parties may submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and 2 references to: [email protected]. Deadline for submission is May 16, 2021.
