Merit-Based Scholarships

Rev. Brian J. O’Connell, C.M. Scholarship

Named after the late Dean of St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the O’Connell scholarship is awarded to high-achieving applicants with GPAs of 3.4 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for their most recent degrees. Incoming students do not need to apply separately for this scholarship, but are automatically granted partial tuition reprieve based on academic merit. Award amount: $950 to $1170 per 3-credit LIS course for the duration of student’s program of study.

DLIS/H.W. Wilson Professional Development Scholarship

The Wilson scholarship is awarded to up to five DLIS students who have their work recognized/published by a professional association.

Eligibility criteria: Proof of publication of applicant’s research (acceptance letter, conference program, etc.) completed while enrolled in DLIS, submitted via DLIS Scholarship Application Form.

Award amount: $500 per academic year.

Students in DLIS may apply for the DLIS/H.W. Wilson Professional Scholarship once per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).

DLIS Scholarship Application Process

  1. Applicants must submit the DLIS Scholarship Application Form
  2. Upon award of scholarship, student must submit a thank-you letter to the awarding foundation and DLIS Scholarship Committee
  3. Scholarship funds will be dispersed only after receipt of the thank-you letter.
