Grant-Funded Research Assistant -New York State

Syracuse University, in partnership with the New York Library Association, has been awarded a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to continue the work that began as the NYLA Pathways to Librarianship Task Force in 2020. The goal of the grant is to explore systemic barriers to the profession in New York State, then designing and prototyping initiatives that reduce equity gaps/address DEI issues related to the recruitment, development, and retention of faculty, library, and archives leaders from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

We are seeking 18 research assistants — 2 people from each of the 9 ESLN Council Regions, to join Dr. Rachel Ivy Clake’s research team as part of a train-the-trainer model to conduct interviews, solicit journey maps, and analyze the resulting data. Research assistants will undergo multiple web-based training sessions, covering topics including but not limited to: privacy, participant consent and comfort, administering interviews, supporting the journey mapping process, and analysis of the textual and visual data resulting from the interview sessions. There will be a $500 honorarium included with the position.

If interested, please fill out the Research Assistant Application Form. If you have any questions regarding the project, please feel free to contact Rachel or me directly. Thank you in advance for your time and support.
