This coming year — 2019 — welcomes the Bicentennial celebration of Huntington’s favorite son and America’s great poet, WALT WHITMAN.
As part of the celebration, we at the Walt Whitman Birthplace invite you to participate in the Whitman Library Project on Wednesday, October 3, 12:30 – 3 pm, at the Birthplace. Working with our community libraries, our project organizes library Read Out Loud events to introduce and re-introduce library patrons to Whitman’s remarkable verse.
Please attend our organizing meeting on October 3 and join your colleagues across Long Island. And please designate one or two library staff members who might assume an important role in your library’s Whitman Library Project and ask them as well to attend the Wednesday, October 3, organizing meeting. Refreshments will be served.
