Locust Valley Library is seeking a Full-time Youth Services Librarian
The Locust Valley Library is seeking a youth services librarian to provide services for children, “tweens,” and teens working under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services.
The youth services librarian will work collaboratively with the department head to develop collections and services for all three age groups. Duties will include conducting storytimes, book discussions, programming, reference, readers’ advisory and school and community outreach.
Must be flexible, organized, adept with social media and electronic devices, and able to learn new technologies quickly.
Some evening and weekend shifts are required.
The successful candidate will:
- have 2+ years of experience working in library youth services including early childhood services, and
- hold a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited school or expect to receive one by January of 2019.
Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Starting salary range is $50,000 – $55,000, depending on experience.
The Locust Valley Library is a free association library not subject to civil service requirements.
