Finding aids are the key to locating archival and other primary source materials. A finding aid for a specific collection offers a detailed description of the collection’s provenance, scope and content, and how it is finally organized. This workshop will review the components of a finding aid and offer examples to help you create a template for your current and future collections. As a tool for yourself and researchers, a finding aid informs those seeking specific information in a collection. It saves time while informing the public of its existence.
Who should attend:
Anyone seeking to promote the historical/informational value of their institution’s special collections. This workshop requires some knowledge of arranging and describing archival materials.
