Intern Position for May 29 – June 8, 2018
Historical Society in private community on Fire Island, New York is looking to hire 2-4 interns, ideally graduate student in an archival program, to prepare the social history archive for digitization.
The archive contains print material, photos, films, and videos from the late 1800’s to the present, covering all aspects of community life and governance. The archive also contains a collection of primary material central to the formation of the Fire Island National Seashore.
The intern will work side by side with the community archivist, as well as independently, to review, organize, preserve and inventory the files in preparation to send them off-site for scanning and digitization.
Skills: Experience with Omeka and Excel is desired. Detail oriented. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Housing, meals and stipend are offered. Academic credit must be arranged with educational institute prior to acceptance of the position.
Dates: May 29 to June 8, 2018 (Sunday – day off)
