DIRECTOR OF ARCHIVES
The Archives and Records Center for the Diocese of Pittsburgh is seeking to hire a qualified person for the position of Director of Archives.
The Director of the Diocesan Archives and Records Center is under the jurisdiction of the Chancellor of the Diocese. The Director of Archives possesses knowledge and skills in records management, archival theory and practices, and general administration. The Director of Archives is responsible for supervising the staff and volunteers and overseeing the operations of the Records Center.
Applicant must have: Master’s Degree in Archives and Records Administration (MARA), or Master’s Degree in Library Science with an emphasis on Records Management, or a Master’s Degree in the Humanities or equivalent. In addition, the applicant must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Archives or Records Management or equivalent work experience.
The position requires: database management software, Microsoft Office, and computer archival program skills; knowledge of current trends and practices in digital management and in preservation techniques of archival materials; knowledge of record retention guidelines; the ability to analyze and interpret common professional, scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; the ability to prepare clear and concise archives material including policies, reports, forms, and correspondence; and excellent communication skills.
