LIS graduate students are invited to apply for an internship with the Health Sciences Library of NYC Health + Hospitals / Queens. The Library provides professional service to a diverse, multidisciplinary staff, with access to a wide collection of medical texts, journals & electronic databases.
Working with the Chief Librarian, interns will have the opportunity to take part in daily Library operations and work on ongoing short-term and long-term projects. Students will participate in a field experience designed to enhance their graduate course work, which may include, but is not limited to:
-Providing reference services to hospital staff utilizing print and electronic resources
-Involvement in collection development, including assessment of current collection & cataloging new items
-Developing materials to support reference services, as well as to promote evidence based medicine/evidence based practice
-Participating in outreach activities to the Hospital community
**Please note that this internship is unpaid (completed for experience) and may only take place during the Library’s Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-4 PM.**
