“A Walk Through Harlem”

Organized by SLA-NY’s Diversity Committee SLA-NY member Leigh Hallingby will lead an exploration of this beautiful and historic neighborhood. Meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture (515 Malcolm X Boulevard at 135th Street). Walk begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. and includes the Schomberg Center, Abyssinian Baptist Church, Harlem YMCA, Harlem Hospital murals, Astor Row, 125th Street, Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building and statue, Africa Plaza, Hotel Theresa, Apollo Theater, Harriet Tubman statue, and Mount Morris Historic District.

The walk extends from 138th Street south to 116th Street and will take about two hours. There will be an optional lunch after at Amy Ruth’s, a well-known Harlem restaurant (113 West 116th Street).
