The ACRL/NY Chapter promotes professional standards, mentors librarians, and enhances professional development through a variety of educational programs. In addition to the professional development and networking opportunities, our members receive the ACRL/NY Newsletter and have unlimited access to the many events and programs sponsored by our discussion groups and professional development committee. Each fall, our organization hosts an annual symposium that focuses on current issues in academic librarianship. Mark your calendars — this year’s symposium will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016.
Some of the upcoming events we are hosting:
- ACRL/NY Spring 2016 Meet-n-Greet– May 24, 2016, 5:30 – 7:30 pm ART/NY – Spaces @520 – 520 Eighth Avenue (between 36th and 37th Streets)
- Discussion Forum: “Talking the talk: Persuasive communication for productive initiative and leadership in academic libraries”– June 9th, 5:30pm-7:30pm – 300 Jay Street, Brooklyn

As the Membership Secretary, I would like to invite you join ACRL/NY (if you are not already a member) and attend ACRL/NY chapter events. Members have the opportunity to volunteer for executive board and symposium committee roles. Involvement with ACRL/NY is a great way to build professional connections, gain experience and learn about new opportunities in the Greater New York metropolitan area. Contact me or Dianne Gordon Conyers, ACRL/NY 2016 President, at: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
