The Morgan Library & Museum is pleased to announce a one year, full-time (renewable up to three years) opening for a Literary and Historical Manuscripts Cataloger. The cataloger will work to improve and augment existing descriptions of materials in the Morgan’s collection of Western European and American manuscripts, documents, and letters. This will involve examining and interpreting collection items, revising and enhancing existing MARC catalog records, creating new catalog records as needed, assigning accession numbers, and providing data on physical location and housing. The bulk of the collection items to be addressed are from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, though some are from earlier or later periods; over seventy-five percent of the texts are in English; some texts are in other European languages, primarily French, German, and Italian. This position will report to the Robert H. Taylor Curator of Literary and Historical Manuscripts Curator and Department Head.
