About Farmingdale State College:
Farmingdale State College, a campus of the State University of New York, is a college of applied science and technology with an enrollment of more than 8,400 undergraduate students. The Reference and Instruction Librarian will provide comprehensive, one-on-one reference desk consultations to members of the college community using both print and electronic mediums for 12-15 hours per week. The successful candidate will also develop and offer in-class and individual Information Literacy instruction, including collaborative efforts with faculty in all disciplines. Additional responsibilities include: electronic resource management and other support/promotion of library services; assisting in the evaluation and/or creation of online videos; participation in collection development; and participation in the continual assessment of the library services and programs, including assessment of information literacy. Will perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master’s in Library Information Studies (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2-4 years reference experience in an academic library. Experience in undergraduate library instruction. Experience using educational technologies at the undergraduate level. 2nd Master’s degree in a Subject Discipline required to be considered for promotion/tenure.
