Oral History Transcription Volunteer -Online

From an email:

The New York State Military Museum is in need of volunteers to assist with the transcription of recorded oral histories and the indexing/image manipulation of enlistment cards. More information about these opportunities can be found here: https://dmna.ny.gov/historic/research/vols.htm

I thought that these opportunities would be perfect for online students as they do not require any travel and can be done from home. I’ve begun working on an oral history myself, though my time is much more limited now, and I’ve found it to be very interesting (my veteran was an engineer on a B-17).

I believe the volunteer opportunities would be beneficial to all LIS students, and allow them to develop skills they may not already have.

Jim Gandy (assistant librarian & archivist) is aware of my intent to inform you about these opportunities, and can be reached at his email: jgandy@nysmm.org
