SLA Annual Conference Travel Award -submission deadline: April 30, 2016

We hope the Spring semester is going well for you. We are contacting you because the Special Library Association of New York (SLA NY) is soliciting the nomination of a student to receive a travel award to the SLA Annual Conference (June 12-14 in Philadelphia). We humbly request that you or another member of the St. John’s library education team provide the name and contact information of a student you feel would benefit from attending the SLA Annual Conference. SLA NY has set aside $275 for the award. This will cover the registration fee for a student ($225) and, if they are not a member of SLA NY, that fee as well ($50). If you have more than one student you’d like to nominate, we will ask the candidates to write a short (200-250 word) description on why they would like to attend the conference and make a final selection.

The selected student will be asked to participate in social media content creation for the SLA NY Twitter and Facebook accounts by crafting tweets and taking snapshots during the conference. They will also be asked to contribute a 1,000 word article about their experience to our chapter publication, Bridge to Excellence (aka, B2E).
