From an email:
Dear SJC faculty,
I’m happy to say that Sonia Sanchez, the renowned Black Arts Movement poet, will be reading at St. John’s on Thursday Feb. 11. Her presentation, which will include an open q&a, will be in Marillac Auditorium at Common Hour (1:50). Spanning several decades and multiple genres, her work is of interest across many disciplines; we’re grateful to have the support of St. John’s College as well as many individual SJC departments (Art, English, History, Library & Information Science, and Africana Studies) and organizations across the university (The School of Education, Honors Program, Institute for Core Studies, Institute for Writing Studies, First-Year Writing Program, Black History Month Committee, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Academic Lecture Series, Learning Communities, and Haraya).
Please see the attached flier, and feel free to spread the word at St. John’s and beyond. Hope to see you there!
