DLIS Student wins METRO Innovative internship

Tess Colwell worked at the Center for Jewish History on creating an innovative, semi-automated process for collecting and making accessible user-generated images of special collections, rare books, and archival materials. By utilizing a digital camera with a wireless memory card and leveraging existing descriptive metadata, images of materials created by users in the Center’s reading room will be automatically sent to the Center’s Flickr page. By incorporating the materials that patrons use and digitize themselves, the amount and diversity of materials imaged and made available online will be augmented considerably.
